Roasted Chard
Back to basics with a simple but delicious way of cooking chard. Scattered with cheese and a little lemon zest for the most delicious spring side dish.
Substitutes?
- No onion? Use shallot instead
- No cheddar? Use feta instead.

Ingredients:
a bunch of Chard
1 Onion
2 tbsp Olive oil
Salt & pepper
4 tbsp Cheddar (grated)
½ Lemon (zested)
Recipe:
- Preheat the oven to 180C/160c fan/4 gas mark.
- Separate the chard leaves from the chard stems. Roughly chop the onion and the chard stems. Add to a baking dish with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and a pinch of both salt and pepper. Mix to coat and roast for 15 minutes.
- Toss chard leaves with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil; season with salt and pepper. Place leaves over stem mixture; scatter grated cheddar and lemon zest on top.
- Roast until stems tender, leaves begin to crisp, and cheese is melted and golden, about 15-20 minutes.
- Serve hot as a side dish.
How to store
Store in an airtight container, in the fridge, for up to 3 days.
