Cook time: 12 minutes
Total time: 17 minutes
Servings: 6
Ingredients:
6 Pears
200 g Golden caster sugar
50 ml Water
1 tbsp White wine vinegar
1 tbsp Golden syrup
20 g Unsalted butter
Recipe:
- Carefully push a stick or fork into the top of each pear, and through the core, until secure.
- Put the sugar and water in a saucepan. Heat gently, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil without stirring, then add the vinegar, butter and golden syrup.
- Boil for about 10 minutes, then remove from the heat and dip the pears into the hot caramel, turning to coat. Be very careful not to touch the caramel – it's very hot. You might need to tip the pan to make sure you coat the pears evenly. Repeat quickly with the other pears.
- Add the sprinkles or glitter sugar of your choice. Leave to set on a tray lined with baking paper for 15 minutes.
